Readers who like paranormal romance, especially those with shifters, will love the first novel in paranormal star Spear's Heart of the Shifter series, in which she weaves romance, action, and adventure into an enjoyable experience. United Shifter Force jaguar agent Howard Armstrong and his grey wolf partner, Jillian Greystoke, are assigned a seemingly impossible task: they are to back up jaguar Valerie Chambers on her current assignment without her knowledge. But Val, who prefers to work alone, sees right through their charade, even though everyone involved denies the ruse. She does what she can to continue working alone, but she fails when Howard sees through her efforts. Val thinks her assignment is relatively simple: find a rogue jaguar who killed Howard's wife. Only it's not that simple. In fact, it involves other United Shifter Force agents, including Jillian's mate, Vaughn. Val not only learns to work with others, she finds she enjoys being part of a team. You Had Me at Jaguar is not only the book's title, it is a statement. While big cats, such as lions and tigers, are fairly common among shifters, jaguars are not, a situation Spear is determined to change. Copyright 2019 Booklist Reviews.
